This Is Not Sarah Palin Doll Now On Sale
Considering how obsessed the nation is with Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, it was only a matter of time before someone created a love doll in her likeness. Created by adult product purveyors Topco, the Sarah Palin blowup doll is known as the “This is NOT Sarah Palin Inflatable Love Doll.” Featuring a busty, conservatively dressed Palin lookalike, the box cover promises: “Cross party lines with your own inflatable running mate!” The political love doll’s suggested uses include: “Blow her up and show her how you’re going to vote,” “Let her pound your gavel over and over,” and “It’s time some male interns caused a scandal in the Capitol.” In addition, the company suggests, the Palin doll could stand in for the candidate at her next debate with Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden. “This blow-up sex doll could really satisfy the swing voters.” Who knew the coming presidential election could be decided by a sex doll? McCain on the EconomyBookmark/Search this post with:
John McCain's Web video Detailing the Connections Between Barack Obama and Bill AyersWithout a smoking gun to link Ayers and Obama, it's much more difficult for the McCain campaign to simply point out the association between the two and assume that voters will instinctively be turned off from voting for the Illinois senator. Recognizing that difficulty, the McCain campaign -- in their new web video and in a series of recent statements -- is focused not on the Obama-Ayers relationship per se but rather on Obama's unwillingness to acknowledge the depth of that relationship. It's the old "cover up is worse than the crime" strategy. In the Web video, the narrator offers these crucial lines: "But Obama's friendship with terrorist Ayers isn't the issue. The issue is Barack Obama's judgment and candor." Those words echoed what McCain told Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity during a recent sitdown when the subject of Ayers came up. "I don't care much about an old terrorist and his wife who are still unrepentant," said McCain. "It's not about them, it's about Senator Obama being candid and straightforward about their relationship." McCain's campaign knows full well that it cannot win this election by simply running ads that make note of the fact that Obama and Ayers had a relationship -- the depth of which remains disputed. To make Ayers stick, it has to be part of a broader attack on Obama's judgment, candor and truthfulness. It may be part of the answer when trying to determine how McCain can come back but it is not the only answer. Bookmark/Search this post with:
Obama, McCain Transition Efforts Are Worlds Apart by Sam SteinAs the 2008 campaign nears its conclusion, the presidential transition efforts of the two major candidates have become a study in contrasts: Sen. Barack Obama has organized an elaborate well-staffed network to prepare for his possible ascension to the White House, while Sen. John McCain has all but put off such work until after the election. The Democratic nominee has enlisted the assistance of dozens of individuals -- divided into working groups for particular federal agencies -- to produce policy agendas and lists of recommended appointees. As evidence of their advanced preparations, officials provided a copy of the strict ethics guidelines that individuals working on the transition effort are required to sign. John McCain, by contrast, has done little. Campaign spokespersons did not respond to requests for elaboration. But one official with direct knowledge, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, expressed concern with McCain's approach. The Arizona Senator has instructed his team to not spend time on the transition effort, according to the source, both out of a desire to have complete focus on winning the election as well as a superstitious belief that the campaign shouldn't put the cart before the horse. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/08/obama-mccain-transition-e_n_132...
