Troops Support Obama

Via Balloon Juice from ABC News, this comes as little surprise to me. Granted, as Cole pointed out, the survey is unscientific, but this would still be a fairly large trend.
Which is exciting!
Most of them seem to be worried about how the economy is affecting their families, and see Obama as a chance for change.
They seem to feel that Bush hasn't paid enough attention to them and to the toll this war is taking on their families. all legitimate concerns, I think.
Bush has by and large ignored the home front for his entire Presidency, unless of course it was convient for him to pay any attention to us to get our support. Even when Katrina hit and destroyed so many lives, he sort of ignored it. It got, at best, fourth rate attention. This is combing against the Republicans this election, and I think that this is absolutely warranted.

The Hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton is on the board of directors for Wal-Mart. Has been been for years. Her campaign is build on several issues that are contrary to what Walmart does. Contrary to the point that I'm absolutely amazed no one else has cottoned onto this.

She could at least publicly speak out against the policies (she is, from what I've heard, Sam Walton's niece somehow [this explains that five million she donated to herself], and it's not likely she'd be kicked off the board), even if she can't convince them to change policies. She's got a lot of power when it comes to this. She could speak out, and as the former First Lady of the US and Arkansas, and a current US Senator, she's got an incredible reach.

Pulling Out

I'm sure we've all heard the news that we've hit 4,000 American deaths in Iraq. 4,000 young men and women have died, and enough is enough.

Boycott the Bejing Olympics

Pure and simple, its the best way to make China realize that human rights violations = not ok. It will cause a fiscal loss and a loss of face on the world stage.

Mysterious Gaps in Hillary's Time Log as First Lady

I do not trust Hillary Clinton as far as I can throw her. And this is why.
Large gaps in her log of activity as First Lady, private meetings with un-named individuals. Days of these sort of meetings.
I do not begrudge her some of them, but for them to be to ubiquitous is unnerving and makes me even more wary of her. We do not need more secrets. It's time for an open, transparent presidency.

The Power to Divide

Andrew Sullivan made a point recently that really struck me as I read it. He said,
"The exit polls prove that Rush tilted Texas for the Clintons. History gets funnier, doesn't it? Who would have thought back in the 1990s that the Clintons would finally join forces with talk-radio hate? But it seems so fitting now, in retrospect. They are just two sides of the same polarizing coin. They need each other; they feed off each other; they sustain each other."

It makes so much sense. If you spend time listening to Rush or Bill O'Rielly or any of the others, they draw lines. That's about ninety percent of what they do. "We Republicans are in the moral right, while those heathen Liberals will lead us to our doom!"

Bush Nicks California National Guard Equipment

The Govenator wants it back, since about half of California's National Guard equipment is gone, which leaves civilians vulnerable in the event of a fire or an earthquake. Everything from radios to humvees was taken and has never been returned or replaced. Other governors are complaining as well, starting with the Kansas governor,
"Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, a Democrat, said last May that her state's response to a tornado in the town of Greensburg was limited because 15 of the Kansas National Guard's 19 Black Hawk helicopters were overseas, along with trucks, bulldozers and other equipment,"
according to a San Francisco Gate article, before it goes on to say,
"During the Southern California fires in October, some local officials complained about a lack of air support to contain the blazes, while state and federal officials criticized the U.S. military for failing to deploy some of its C-130 planes immediately after the fires broke out.

A few weeks later, when high winds threatened to worsen fires in Southern California, four of the planes were sent after state officials asked for help.

About 2,500 of the state's National Guardsmen are overseas out of a force of more than 20,000. The state estimates that $1 billion worth of equipment is being used, from diesel generators to trucks to GPS devices.

The California National Guard is also stretched thin because about 1,400 guardsmen are helping the federal government to secure the border with Mexico.

"There's only so long you can do that," the governor said. "We now are missing 50 percent of the equipment - the equipment also (used) to train the National Guard."

This is absolutely unacceptable. It is never ok to put civilians in danger because the government required use of equipment needed to protect the home front. More evidence that the Bush administration is full of it.
