Boycott the Bejing Olympics

Pure and simple, its the best way to make China realize that human rights violations = not ok. It will cause a fiscal loss and a loss of face on the world stage.

If we do that, we deprive them of millions, if nor billions, of dollars in trade--that's a loss of ticket sales, tourism, memorabilia, lodging, food, plane tickets and so on.

China, despite being recently removed from the US State Department's list of human rights violators (goodness knows how they managed that!), is absolutely astounding in its ability to ignore the rights of man. Tibet looks to me like it's going to be another Tienanmen Square. Monks, those peaceful men in saffron, are protesting, and like in Burma, being killed and hurt. Assuming the protesters don't turn violent (and force the Dali Lama to resign), they can help the world zoom in on the blatant violations that China regularly commits.

Good idea!

No argument here, let's do it. Well, I don't have to, I don't like sports. ;0)

Yes, absolutely correct. The

Yes, absolutely correct. The whole of the western world should boycott Beijing's Olympics, to send a message to the Communist thugs!

Communists?

They seem pretty capitalist to me, now just revealed as being authoritarian at-base. We have our own problems with that here, especially being their single best customer in the world. Why not cut the flow of goods manufactured there for two-years? That would get a reaction, one I'd be happy with.

Aren't we hypocrites ?

What about our human rights abuses? Can you spell A-B-U G-H-R-A-I-B?

Oh, sweetie. I haven't even

Oh, sweetie. I haven't even started on those. Those deserve an essay of their own. And believe me, I'll write it eventually.
