Generals are Revolting at an Alarming Rate - Never in History Have Generals Revolted Against a War Like They are About IRAQ.

The generals acted independently, coming in their own ways to the agonizing decision to defy military tradition and publicly criticize the Bush administration over its conduct of the war in Iraq.

What might be called The Revolt of the Generals has rarely happened in the nation's history.

In op-ed pieces, interviews and TV ads, more than 20 retired U.S. generals have broken ranks with the culture of salute and keep it in the family. Instead, they are criticizing the commander in chief and other top civilian leaders who led the nation into what the generals believe is a misbegotten and tragic war.

The active-duty generals followed procedure, sending reports up the chain of command. The retired generals beseeched old friends in powerful positions to use their influence to bring about a change.

Military historians say that before the Iraq conflict, only a handful of active or retired U.S. military officers had publicly criticized civilian leaders' conduct of a war. Some examples:

- In 1864, former Union Army Gen. George McClellan declared the Civil War a failure, called for a peace convention that would leave slavery intact, and ran for president against President Lincoln.

- In the 1930s, retired Gen. Smedley Butler – who had spent 33 years in the Marine Corps – wrote a book calling war “a racket” and toured the country labeling civilian leaders who prosecute wars “capitalistic gangsters.”

- In 1951, President Truman dismissed Gen. Douglas MacArthur for openly challenging U.S. civilian leadership.

- In May 1966, retired Gen. David Shoup, former commandant of the Marine Corps, said this about the escalating war in Vietnam: “I believe if we had, and would, keep our dirty, bloody, dollar-crooked fingers out of the business of these nations so full of depressed, exploited people, they will arrive at a solution of their own ... not one crammed down their throats by the Americans.”

- Retired four-star Gen. Wesley Clark, supreme NATO commander during President Clinton's Kosovo campaign, criticized President George W. Bush's handling of Iraq and ran for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination.

It will take the current Generals to shut this war down.

It is my belief that the military will have to shut this war down by refusing to follow orders and coming home on their own. They already have the American peoples support in ending the War in Iraq.

The War in Iraq is Wrong!

Unfortunately, any Generals

Unfortunately, any Generals who do resign will be replaced with evangelical sycophants who will prosecute the war with end-times zeal.

"Iranian" weapons being used against GIs in Iraq

The next time you hear the mainstream media mantra about "Iranian weapons" being used in Iraq contact that person and ask for details.

I've sent the letter below to every network, cable and newspaper "Pentagon" or "Defense" correspondent I can find, at least a dozen people, and I've heard nothing -- aside from Jennifer Griffin at foxnews who said she'd "get back to me." That was a week ago. No further information from her of course.

Dear [name of correspondent],

WHERE and WHAT are all these "Iranian weapons" we keep hearing about?

It's impossible to get a straight answer from our intrepid reporters here in the States or overseas. They repeat vague assertions from Pentagon press releases just as they did when they were promoting the attack on Iraq four years ago.

Could we have some details of these so-called Iranian weapons please?

Can someone kindly identify or explain:

1.) What type of weapons? Rifles, pistols, automatic weapons, grenades, RPGs, artillery, artillery rockets, anti-aircraft systems, etc. etc.

2.) The caliber or bore size of the weapon(s). In the case of rockets, if possible, the size of the rocket (length and or diameter). The military or manufacturer's identifier or nickname for the specific item or system would be helpful.

3.) The manufacturer of the weapon.

4.) Regarding those so-called "sophisticated" IEDs and EFPs:

First off, The Iraqis were close to completing a functioning nuclear reactor in the early '80s until the facility was bombed by the israelis. Building a nuclear power plant and processing uranium are at least one thousand times more complicated than constructing machined-housing shaped charges (as in IEDs and EFPs) which are relatively simple in comparison. To claim that IEDs and EFPs are "sophisticated" and cannot be built by the Iraqis themselves is absurd. They can be fabricated in any modestly equipped automotive machine shop. Anywhere.

Along with any standard weaponry that's being claimed as "Iranian" what singular characteristics identify those IEDs and EFPs as being of Iranian manufacture?

As it stands now I find all these accusations to be extremely dubious. The claims are neither supported with details describing types of armaments nor general specifications. I'll merely mention Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction and you'll understand my point.

P.S. There was some 81mm mortar ammo trotted out by the u.s. army or some government agency several months ago but that proved little or nothing. 81mm is a common mortar bore size and is manufactured in several countries other than Iran, including the United States.

P.P.S. To provide another complication Iranian manufactured weapons are openly available on the world arms market. The mere discovery of a weapon manufactured in Iran does not conclusively prove it was shipped directly from Iran into Iraq. That is not even worth speculating about at this point because I haven't seen any proof of Iranian weaponry captured in Iraq at all.

Iran Supplying weapons?

And just what are we doing, the largest exporter of weapons in the world. We have a "defense" budget larger than the rest of the world,combined(40 cents out of every tax dollar)Not to mention we lost 190k weapons in a warehouse a few weeks ago. Pleeeez. How about a couple of years ago when we left an unguarded warehouse with a few thousand tons of explosives, came back and they were gone. Oh shucks. Then we selectively arm Sunnis and Shiites? You're right on target Mark. No pun

Re: Iran Supplying Weapons?

Cheers. Thanks very much.

Make it a point to write these people when you hear them spewing their phony information. You don't have to write a long letter, in fact just a few lines is best. They actually read those.

Below are the eMail formats for the msm television "news." For other outlets just do a google search for the radio station or TV station call letters, or the name of the newspaper or publication or website along with the word "contact." That'll give you the contact addresses for most other media you're looking for.

Mark,
The singing in Europe was impressive. Singing works with people who can carry a tune. I'm afraid the entire gang in DC are all tone deaf. They more likely would understand a noise somewhat like the crack of lightning.
Jim (also in las vegas)

US government

This thought has been in my mind. A military coup. But every successful revolution faces the "now what" situation.

Maybe we could get away with ...

... a singing revolution??

It worked for Estonians...

Coup

One's organization , militia , or other 'force' , must posess the necessary resources for temporary Government , by force if necessary , until such time that fair and impartial elections may be held to install a traditional Government. A 'house cleaning' would be in order in all branches of Government , from top to bottom. Any and all unnecessary organizations within Government would be eliminated or absorbed into others to shrink and simplify , eliminate redundancy , etc. All oppressing Amendments , Declarations , or other Legislation enacted against the will of the people must be repealed , and the Constitution restored. All acts of Treason and War Crimes would be prosecuted and the perpetrators punished to the full extent , according to law , with oversight by 'We The People'.
There is not much our Founding Fathers left out in our Constitution , which provides guidance and laws for effective Government of our country. It also empowers us to overthrow the Government if that is what is necessary to preserve our Constitution and our Liberties.
Any interested parties?

coup

Coup? I'm in!! we need leadership!

I'm game

Coup, count me in too. I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the "forceful controllers" in society may very well be mentally ill. But there are alot of folks who are every bit as diligent in decision making and action who are NOT loony-toons, but have always been pushed aside by the sheer force of these crazies. What do you suppose would happen if ALL the current "leaders" were found to be deranged and sent out to play? Most likely us ACTIVISTS would be next in line, simply because the world is made up of leaders and followers, no matter if they are actually in the SANE category or not. Imagine the world being actually run by SANE people... It staggers the imagination.

Dude, It's not the same as

Dude,

It's not the same as it was in 1776 or even 1861. The US Government would crush you with the amount of weapons it has. Do you have an F22 Raptor in your garage? Or an Abrams M1 Tank? Do you have laser guided bombs?

Back then, George III had muskets, we had muskets. He had a calvary, we had a calvary. He had cannons, we had cannons. He had swords, we had swords.

It's not like that today.

The US Government has Nukes, we have muskets.

They missed one general .

well ... it's good for a laugh. and if he could, he would ...
"...WASHINGTON, DC—Breaking a 211-year media silence, retired Army Gen. George Washington appeared on NBC's Meet the Press Sunday to speak out against many aspects of the way the Iraq war has been waged..."

I hope the momentum keeps up ... http://www.warisaracket.com should be REQUIRED reading for everybody ... required before they turn 15.

If this story is true,

If this story is true, expect a rash of 'suicides' (wink, wink) in the near future.

The only thing ending this

The only thing ending this war is a bullet in a couple of people's heads, or the collapse of america.
